This is a beautiful decorative multi-coloured Japanese Cloisonné Meiji jar. Cloisonné is an ancient technique for decorating metalwork objects. In recent centuries, vitreous enamel has been used, and inlays of cut gem stones, glass and other materials have been used during older periods. Most of the finest cloisonné was produced during the Meiji "Golden Age" (1868-1912).
This Japanese jar with removable lid weighs 984 grams.
This cloisonne jar is in excellent condition with no missing decoration or damage.
Jonathan Green Antiques Ltd has clarified that the beautiful multi-coloured Japanese cloisonne Meiji jar (018 / LA68250) is genuinely of the period declared with the date/period of manufacture being 1900.
