This is an exceptionally fine quality, heavy, antique Georgian silver sugar castor. This beautiful castor was made by Thomas & Jabez Daniell, and weighs 415 grams. The castor is hallmarked on the base, London 1772 and partially on the inside of the lid with maker's mark and the silver lion.
This sugar castor is in excellent condition, with good clear hallmarks. Makers mark is a little worn.
Jonathan Green Antiques Ltd has clarified that the exceptionally fine quality silver George III sugar castor (010 / LA67946) is genuinely of the period declared with the date/period of manufacture being 1772.
